I know, I know, you only get your news from us here at The Chanticleer. So, for all of you who missed us over the summer, here are the top headlines.

Deep Throat was unmasked back in June. It turns out that all along he was Mark Felt, a FBI agent. The unveiling by The Washington Post put an end to 30 years of conspiracy theories.

Michael Jackson was exonerated during his trial over the summer. Jackson had been accused of molesting a young boy. The trial lasted 14-weeks and held much of the nation in suspense.

In other acquittal news, Richard Scrushy, former HealthSouth CEO, was acquitted of fraud charges. He currently faces a civil suit from the Security and Exchange Commission.

Sandra Day O'Conner announced her retirement. Currently, John Roberts is going through the nomination process, hoping to replace her.

A drama continues to play out in the tropics involving a missing Mountain Brook teen named Natalee Holloway. Joran van der Sloot, a 17-year-old who was among the last seen with Holloway remains a main suspect.

Dennis Rader closed 10 open murder cases in Wichita, Kansas, when he confessed to being the BTK Killer.

After a two-and-a-half-year absence, the United States shuttle program was back in space. Continued worries about falling foam during takeoff, however, have grounded the program again until further modifications are made.

And last, but certainly not least, we must mention the London bombings. Global mass transit went on high alert as one successful attack rocked the city, followed two weeks later by an unsuccessful one. Thankfully, no attempts have occurred since then.

Hope you've enjoyed your summer wrap-up. Here's to a great year!
