The Anniston Star talked all week of the D1 transfers that are now playing for the Mocs. The thoughts in the air of the Gamecock faithful all said, "We are going to kill the Mocs like last year."
Something just didn't feel right about the game.
The Gamecocks took the opening drive of the game 81 yards and pounded it in on a Clay Green run. Brett Rushing missed the PAT and the Gamecocks led 6-0.
Something just didn't feel right about the game. The Mocs answered by driving 78 yard and punched it in on a Eldra Buckley run.
The PAT was true and the Mocs led 7-6 and looked very convincing on offense. Something just didn't feel right about the game.
Rushing would add a 41 yard field goal to take the lead for JSU 9-7 and the atmosphere started to peak as the Gamecock defense looked up for the challenge.
The first half ended at 9-7 but during halftime the crowd learned Furman was losing 27-0 going into the third quarter to Western Carolina.
That had to be a (typo). Furman couldn't be losing. Something just didn't feel right about the game.
The Mocs would open up the second half with a touchdown to lead 14-9 but the Gamecocks would answer on the next drive with a Maurice Mullins 40 yard touchdown to Tauren Rhetta.
The PAT was no good and the Gamecocks only led 15-14. The Gamecock would settle for a field goal after having first and goal from the nine yard line off some brilliant runs from Daniel Jackson. The lead was 18-14 and something just didn't feel right about the game.
Devin Phillips intercepts a Moc pass on the next drive and Paul Snow erupted in cheers.
JSU had a fourth and one with a little over three minutes remaining. Clay Green was stopped for a no gain and the Mocs took over on downs with 67 yards standing in the way of matching their win total of last season at two.
Something just didn't feel right about the game.
Antonio Miller scored on a two-yard run with just 10 seconds remaining as Chattanooga claimed a 21-18 win over Jacksonville State.
