After this past weekend, there are 14 JSU indoor track records left to be broken. Current members of the team hold nine.

The other two records, one for the 5,000 meter and one for the 20 pound shot-put, were broken by Lesley Binning and Kendra Wise, respectively, this past weekend at East Tennessee State University's Niswonger Invitational.

"It was Kendra's first indoor meet," said Assistant Coach Pristina Jones. "So she did pretty good for this to be her first meet."

Binning's time of 18:48.54 in the 5,000 meter not only broke a school record, but earned her sixth place in the event.

"She ran a smart race," said Jones.

In other noteworthy results, Latosha Taliferro placed ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30.03 and Olivia Watson rated 11th in the mile run.

"Personally, I think that Olivia Watson ran a strong mile. It was her first indoor meet," said Jones of Watson's 5:31.27 time.

The team will travel to the TSU Invitational this Sunday at Gentry Center, the same venue where the OVC Indoor Championship meet will be held.

"I really don't like tying up a kid's weekend with a Sunday meet," said Coach Steve Ray, acknowledging that the location of the event is the primary motive behind the decision to attend the meet.
